Children of all ages will love splashing in the hot tubs, and each cottage’s outdoor space has a barbecue and stylish furniture for al fresco family meals.

Our cottage rentals range from two to five bedrooms, and they can be booked singly or in combination to accommodate extended family groups traveling together.

Every modern convenience can be found in our pristine, bespoke kitchens so family meals couldn’t be easier. There’s plenty of space for family time, board games and toys in the open plan living and dining areas too.
Family fun in the Lake District
Family fun can be found throughout the Lake District, and many of the best days out are within an easy drive of The Courtyard Cottages.
Both the Bigland Estate and the surrounding area are home to many lovely walks suitable for little legs, and there’s plenty of choice for families with more confident walkers. Local cafés and sweet shops provide fuel or extra motivation!
Active families will enjoy the nearby Grizedale Centre, which is full of things to do, from cycling to swinging through the trees at Go Ape. Only a twenty-minute drive away, Brockhole is an excellent destination for the whole family. The centre boasts a huge adventure playground and tons of activities for children of all ages, including archery and mini golf. The Lakeside to Haverthwaite, and Ravenglass to Eskdale steam railways are a fun and quirky way to get out into the Lakes and see the sights from a new perspective.
Families looking to broaden their cultural horizons will be spoiled for choice. Most the Lake District’s many museums and galleries, such as the Lakeland Motor Museum, Barrow Docks Museum, and Abbot Hall Gallery are child-friendly. As are many of the historic houses and gardens locally – Holker Hall, Wray Castle and Allen Bank are three to add to your must-visit list.
And, of course, nature-loving families will adore our Lake District location. There’s a vast number of wildlife reserves, which give you the chance to spot Cumbria’s favourite animals.
