Why choose a luxury break near Newby Bridge and Lake Windermere?

Windermere is the perfect year-round destination. With the shores of the lake at Newby Bridge so close to The Courtyard Cottages, Bigland Hall, you are never short of leisure activities to try or places to enjoy our landscape.

The Gummers How viewpoint at Newby Bridge offers superb views of the Lake Windermere – north towards Ambleside, south to Morecambe Bay, and across to the Lake District fells in the west. It’s a quick drive from our accommodation and delivers breathtaking scenery without much walking effort.

Last year, the Lakes became a World Heritage Site. We can’t think of a better reason to come and explore our world-class area. And, if you prefer a touch of luxury, our cottages are ideal – in fact, you can take in the scenery without even leaving your bed thanks to our enviable location and the views through our characterful windows.

The Lake District is one of the UK’s most stunning and ancient landscapes and I am thrilled it has been granted World Heritage Site status. It is a unique part of the world, that combines a vibrant farming community with thousands of archaeological sites and structures that give us an amazing glimpse into our past.
